personality Bon gets shit done. The end. Period, exclamation point. But no, really though, in all seriousness-- Bon, or Ryuuji Suguro, has a very killer work ethic. Everything he does, he does seriously. He's not the type to half ass anything. He's more the type to give whatever he's working on, whatever he's doing his full attention. Because that's the type of person he is. He grew up around people with strong morals and a dedication to never give up on their dreams. Which, in turn shaped Bon in to who he is today. He's very passionate about the things he does. He doesn't take anything lightly either, he commits to everything one hundred percent. He gets slightly-- no. Slightly is probably an understatement. He gets really annoyed when people don't take their education seriously, or take things for granted. He especially dislikes people who skate right on through life, or people who visibly show that they don't really care about doing anything. He gets very irritable with others who don't really show any interest in helping out with group projects as well. Take Takara for example. The guy doesn't contribute much of anything to their cram sessions, and he just sort of sits off to the side when they're testing their knowledge and skills out in the field during little missions. He only helps out when it's absolutely necessary. And that pisses Bon off to the extreme. The one thing that pisses him off the most is when people look down on him. Sure, he has the tendency to take things a little too seriously at times, and be stern more than he should. But that's just how he is. He's a teen dedicated to fulfill his duties as an exorcist. He has something to prove to everyone and he'll do anything he can to prove it. He wants to show the world that he isn't just this kid who was born into the cursed temple in Kyoto. Everyone always looked down on the temple after that night, and while he shouldn't have taken it personally, he did. He saw how hard his dad had to struggle to get donations to keep the temple alive, let alone making sure that the temple's followers stayed faithful. The people of Myou Dha mean a lot to Bon and he considers them all apart of his family, even if they aren't exactly blood related. Because of this, Bon decided to become an exorcist. And he didn't stop there, oh no. He made it his dream to get strong enough in order to defeat Satan. If he could do that, then he could bring honor back to his temple. No one would have to struggle to make ends meet ever again. Bon has an incredibly short fuse. It doesn't take all that much to set him off either. It's usually his short temper that gets him into tight situations too. He usually gets into a lot of fights with Izumo and Rin. Most of the time it's over petty things, things they normally don't agree on. But he's never gotten physical with them, well... with Izumo at least. He grabs her collar at one point, but that's as far as he goes with her. With Rin though, it's different. They've gotten into a couple of fist fights. But they seem to understand one another differently afterwards. He's at least able to set his differences aside in order to work with the other person when he needs to. He and Izumo are constantly at each other's throats, but he can at least act cordial when he's around her. He also has the tendency to be incredibly close minded. He has his own assumptions and sticks with them unless he's verbally or physically proven wrong. He's very stubborn when it comes to changing his belief on something when he's already made his mind up about something. A good example of this would be his friendship with Rin. After he found out that the other was a son of Satan he hated Rin's guts, especially when you take into consideration that when this happened they were starting to be on alright terms with each other. But it didn't stop him from feeling completely and utterly betrayed. After finally coming to an understanding, with Rin proving to be more than just a son of Satan, they were able to move past it and salvage what little friendship they had left. Rin helping take down the Impure King also helped cement things back into place too. Once you get past his tough exterior, Bon's a pretty decent guy! He looks like someone who could fuck your shit up, but he cares deeply about his friends. If any of them were in trouble he'd do just about anything he could to help them. He doesn't take the word "friendship" lightly. If someone needs his help, he'll be there. Which... sort of gets him down in the dumps once he's realized that one of his closest friends, a brother actually, betrayed him and everyone else. He takes it personally. He wasn't there for his friend when the other needed him most. However the case was. Which is why he personally feels like he needs to drag Shima back to True Cross. Bon also has the tendency to worry about how often he glares. He's also very much a neat freak, and spends his days off cleaning when he can. He's very good at memorizing and is a really great multi-tasker. He's good enough to focus on chanting while drawing what he needs to in order to get his point across out on a pad of paper. | |
abilities & powers Bon has incredible memorization skills. When he was younger he used to listen to his father (the highest priest of the Myou Dha sect) chant sutras. After only hearing one certain chant twice, he was able to memorize the entire sutra and repeat it back to his friends without fail. He is also able to recall vast information from books, bibles, and what have you if he's read it enough times. Because of that he was able to recall the entire Gospel of John to find the demon's fatal verse during the exwire certification exam. This brings me to my next point. Bon is an Aria and Dragoon in training exwire. An Aria is a type of exorcist that take on the utilization of fatal verses. Fatal verses are phrases that are found in the bible and other holy scriptures. Each demon has one fatal verse specifically assigned to them based on build, make, or what have you. Because of his expert memorization skills, Bon has a vast knowledge when it comes to fatal verses. But of course, there are certain demons he doesn't know the specific fatal verse to, so, half the time he has to recite the entire chapter(s) that pertain to the demon in order to get something to register. There are also other sutras he uses solely for protection. On basara gini hara nehatana sowaka hikougoshin no in" - a barrier that helped Bon block an attack from Mamushi's Naga. Dragoons on the other hand are a type of exorcist that fight demons using modern weaponry, such as firearms. All this means is that Bon is somewhat familiar with his way around guns. He's probably capable of using them, if he has to since it's mentioned that he goes to practice every now and then. But he has yet to be seen using them in canon, in the manga at least. Another thing worth mentioning would be his familiar, Karura. Karura is a demon like phoenix which has the ability to use a strong amount of red flames to incinerate almost everything. He inherited Karura from his father to help destroy the Impure King. It isn't really known if he ever plans on using Karura in a fight because you don't really see the demon after that point. Nor do you see Bon ever mentioning having magic circles (which is something one would need in order to summon a familiar with) on his person either. It could be a possibility that Karura acts just as freely as Rin's familiar, Kuro, does. -- which would eliminate the need or use for magic circles. But for now, not much is known. | |
